How To Put Music On Your iPhone From Any Computer Without Syncing

If there's one thing that never fails to annoy me year after year, it's how restrictive Apple has made iTunes and the corresponding sync settings for all iDevices. It's preposterous that an iPhone can only back up to and get music from ONE computer, because what happens if and when that computer goes kaput? Am I to never back up or put music on my phone again? This has always bothered me. Plus syncing in general is just annoying. What to do, what to do...

Friday Link Frenzy!

Happy Friday! I've spent this week applying for job after job after job, so I'm happy to put staring at my resume for hours a day on hold until Monday. I think I've got a case of the January blues. Is that a thing?

It's a pretty good round-up this week, including the funniest video I've seen this year (okay, I know we're only 25 days in but still. It's really funny). (It's at the end if you want to skip right to the good stuff.) Here we go!

A cheese fire burned in a Norwegian tunnel for 5 days. Who knew that could happen? Apparently not anyone in Norway.

Colour photos of Paris from 1910! (These are so cool. I can't stop looking.)

The Coen brothers' new movie.

This astronaut posts crazy photos of Earth to Tumblr from space in real time.

Conan and Aziz Ansari serenade a lady.

Apollo 16 lunar rover dash cam footage. Like on the moon. For real. This is crazy.

Following the space theme...why the moon landing wasn't fake.

The biggest egg.

And my new favourite thing...

A video of two men experiencing labor contractions. This is hilarious. I'm serious. You don't want to miss it.

Have a good weekend!

Heartthrob

Hey everyone! Sorry for the silence over the last week. I've been back at home celebrating my brother's return from Sweden, but I have a whole whack of fun posts planned for you coming up.

In the meantime...

Friday Interweb Link Frenzy

Happy weekend! I'm going home this weekend to celebrate Christmas a few weeks late. More on that later! Here are some neat things I found while aimlessly clicking links on the internet this week...

Did you hear? The best birth control might actually be for men.

I am not going to tell you how many times I watched this and laughed. Hard. (Hint: it was a lot of times.)

A Swedish cleaning lady stole this train and crashed it into a house for no apparent reason.

Call Me Maybe, only different. Eek.

Some scientists have discovered a giant river on Mars!

Google wants to get rid of passwords.

A hilarious new video from my favourite YouTube channel of all time, Bad Lip Reading — those wacky football players.
(Also: The Hunger Games.)

Why The Big Bang Theory is more awesome than people realize.

A dad's guide to an easy ponytail.

(The photo above by NASA is of the Antennae Galaxies, a pair of galaxies that are colliding and becoming one. Blows my mind!)

That's all I've got! See you next week, folks.

App Of The Week!

For my first App Of The Week feature, I want to tell you guys about Flux. It's a simple little app, but it's robust and kind a lifesaver if you're glued to your computer after dark like me.

Essentially, it gradually adjusts your computer screen according to the time of day and the room you're in. When the sun is out, your screen is its regular colour, emulating sunlight. As the sun sets, Flux adjusts and your screen becomes warmer and actually pleasant to look at in darker environments. I am often up late, puttering around on my computer, and I usually get a headache and end up squinting after an hour or two of staring at my bright blue screen once the sun goes down. Since discovering Flux, all of my brain and eye strain has totally vanished. It's awesome! I also find it makes me sleepier at a more reasonable hour, whereas the blue light of a normal screen tends to keep me up.

Give it a try! What have you got to lose? It seems like such a little thing, but your eyes will thank you. Flux is a free download for your computer (you can get it here), and is free for your iPhone or iPad too, but only if you're jailbroken.

Check This Out...

Everybody loves Beyoncé, right? I don't know how she does it, but she seems to be the one person most of the world thinks is one-hundred-percent awesome.

Have you heard about her autobiographical, behind-the-scenes documentary Life Is But A Dream? It looks pretty interesting. It's airing on HBO on February 16th, and yesterday she released a teaser trailer that has gotten me all kinds of excited. Take a peek:

Whaddaya think? Will you watch it?

5 Shows You Should Most Definitely Watch in 2013

We're all back into the swing of things after the holidays and most of my favourite shows are back on TV—what better time to share the best ones and help you beef up your must-watch list for this year? Here we go. Okay. Let's do this.

I love TV. I shamelessly devour it and I want you to, too. If you're like me, keeping up with dozens of shows across every genre is no trouble at all, a fun challenge made better every time you find a new show to learn every fact about. If you're not like me (that's probably for the best), this list* is here to help you add some excellent television to your repertoire this year and hopefully replace some old, mediocre stand-bys.
*This is by no means a definitive list of my ultimate favourites, but rather a round-up of shows I think are of stellar quality and am most excited about for the coming year. Also, taste in TV is very subjective, so take these suggestions with however many grains of salt as you need.
